Running towards Jesus

Running towards Jesus

Contrary to what you have been told for years, and have undoubtedly believed as well, God is not confined to the Old Apostolic Church. In fact there is not a lot of his teaching there at all.

If you leave the church, run toward Jesus.

God's word is in the Bible only. Look at the last paragraph of the last book. Does it look like He has authorized any add ons?

God is found in His word. If you seek Him you will find him.

There are a number of bible based churches around, and some good teachers on the radio as well. I personally like John McArthur's radio program Grace to You, and J. Vernon McGee's program Through the Bible. Hank Hanagraf (The bible answer man) was also helpful to me. You can find websites for all these programs online.

Most Baptist churches are bible based. The church I attend is part of the Southern Baptist Association. Grace Church is also good. The Evangelical Lutheran, Episcopal, and United Methodist Churches seem to be going away from bible teaching, and are re-interpreting scripture to meet their own political agendas. I hesitate to recommend a pentecostal church such as the Assembly of God, or New Life church of God (who do stick to the bible) because these denominations tend to appeal to ones emotions more, and if you are coming out of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church you have been emotionally manipulated for years and your emotions need time to lie low and heal.

Good rational bible teaching is what was best for me. Get a bible and a bible commentary both and read through--looking at the commentary to see what mainstream Christianity teaches. I recently obtained a Narrative Bible written in chronological order, with commentary included. This might be an excellent one to begin with.

You don't have to believe everything you hear or read... I had a problem with putting pastors and teachers on pedestals--like we did back in the OALC. Please don't put that burden on anyone. God is the only one you can trust completely, the only one you worship.

Pray always, at all times and with all kinds of prayers. God hears them, and He answers them in the most unexpected ways.

May God bless your journey.
