JESUS ALONE!

JESUS ALONE!

Postby FaithfulRemnant on Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:41 pm

I just want to comment on the phrase JESUS ALONE on this thread. This is very central to me. Do you know how many people have been tortured for believing this? Early Protestants and "protestants" before them, before Martin Luther, were horribly persecuted for preaching Christ alone, our only salvation, our only head, our only infallible leader and the only true and fautless head of the church. Christ alone is my central doctrine. In His name there is plentiful redemption and trusting Christ alone will hopefully persuade you to see what he says in the New Testament. He alone is your only infallible teacher. Yes, the pastor is important and we need a congregation, but keep Christ at the head, not the bottom or middle. Ask a potential church you are considering for commitment in membership or serving "Do you believe and teach that Christ alone is the only infallible head of the church and only source of salvation?" They should answer with a resouding and firm Yes!

Amen! Thank you for that!

You're absolutely right, Jesus is IT! I've heard of a pastor in a certain denomination who taught the "faith and works" philosophy for years, but when he came to his deathbed he changed his mind. Staring into the face of eternity, he realized that Jesus is all that matters.

And Jesus IS all that matters. Like you said, the martyrs understood this. Stephen, Polycarp, and numerous others knew that to reject Christ would be abominable... and their legacies are inspirational to us all!

Thank you for that good, good message.
