Permission to post here?

Postby FaithfulRemnant on Fri Feb 15, 2008 10:42 pm

Hi. I probably should have asked this first, but is it ok for people from other Laestadian groups besides the OALC to post here? I have never been to an OALC congregation and from what I can tell they are far to concerned with observance of rules instead of letting faith rule with works to follow. Just my view from where I sit

Hi Faithful Remnant! I am very glad to have you posting here! But since you are not OALC would you mind telling us all which Laestadian group you are affiliated with and what your group teaches? Most of the laestadians that I know of think that their own group is the only true church, and only members of their church will be saved. What do the terms confession and remission of sins mean in your church and how is that shown in your services?

Hi Soapbox. Thanks for the welcome :)
I am mostly affiliated with the Laestadian Lutheran Church(LLC). Do I agree with the LLC perfectly? No. It is plagued to some extent by legalism. Actually some of my beliefs are more in agreement with the Independent Apostolic Lutherans, from what I have read of them. I have not been to the services of the independents or evangelicals as they are also called. I have actually learned about them by way of the LLCs literature. LLC considers the independents to be heretical due to harboring a belief similar to eternal security, also the LLC accused the independents of too much commotion in the service, but to me the LLC seems too relaxed and I embrace the eternal security doctrine. Also I believe in the present day charismatic gifts which means there is probably going to be less restraint in the service. I also do not hold to the exclusivity idea. I also have a girlfriend who attends a different church(yet evangelical nonetheless), which is a no-no to the LLC and I suppose the OALC. LLC at least frowns upon a mixed marriage. My most fundamental doctrines are the five solas of all orthodox Protestants..Faith Alone, Scripture alone, Christ Alone, Grace Alone, To the Glory of God alone. Anyone who is truly trusting Christ alone by faith alone according to scripture alone, by grace alone and for the Glory of God and not the glory of man(boasting of his own saving works) will make it to heaven. Does this help you?
